Norwegian-Pakistanis expressed Solidarity with Kashmiris in Oslo
O.C.P (web desk): Pakistanis and Kashmiris based in Norway organized a demonstration in order to express sympathy and solidarity with the oppressed people of Indian-occupied Kashmir (IoK).
A number of people from all walks of life, especially representatives of different Norwegian Pakistani Organizations including Pakistan Union Norway, 14th August Committee, and Pakistan Welfare Union Norway attended the event held in front of Norwegian Parliament in Oslo, the capital city, on occasion of the solidarity day on Tuesday.
The participants raised placards and expressed their solidarity with people of IoK who are suffering from atrocities committed by Indian forces in the last seven decades. The demonstrators called for an end to the Indian brutalities against the Kashmiris and end of Indian occupation over Kashmir.
The speakers of the demonstration were included member Norwegian Parliament from Socialist Left party (SV) Mr Freddy Øvestegårds, Norwegian Pakistanis politician Aamir Javed Sheikh, Talat Butt, and Mirza Zulfiqar, and Kashmiri figures based in Norway, Sardar Shahnawaz Khan and Raja Maqbool.
They emphasized the people of Kashmir demanding their right to self-determination and said India should fulfil its promise for giving them this right. They further added that Kashmiri people will continue their struggle for freedom from the Indian occupation.
A group of Pakistanis based in Norway including Malik Pervez of Pakistan Union Norway and Mirza Zulfiqar of IRWS Norway and Kashmiri figure Raja Maqbool handed over a protest memorandum to an official of the embassy of Indian in Oslo, calling the Indian authorities to end its occupation of Kashmir and give right to self-determination to the people of IoK.
A memorandum was also handed over to the Norwegian parliament addressing the president of the parliament for Oslo’s role in for an end to the Kashmiris’ genocide and a suitable peaceful resolution of Kashmir issue.
Meanwhile, the embassy of Pakistan in Oslo also organized a seminar at the embassy premises for solidarity with the oppressed people of IoK. It was addressed by Pakistan’s ambassador to Norway, Zaheer Pervez Khan, veteran Kashmir figure Sardar Shahnawaz Khan, and others.
They condemned the genocide of the Kashmiris, especially the use of pellet gun by Indian forces on the faces of the peaceful people of the occupied Kashmir.
Ambassador Zaheer parvaiz Khan reiterated that Pakistan will continue its unconditional support extended to the people of Kashmir struggling for their right to self-determination.
